2020 - Global Game Jam (GGJ)

This was my first time participating in the Global Game Jam, and the theme for the year was 'repair'. On my team were two programmers (myself as the artist), and after brainstorming, we settled on the concept of rebuilding the internet and repairing connections taken down by virus-like bugs. Developing this endless game within 48 hours was tough at times, though very rewarding in the end!

Feel free to play it in-browser on itch.io!

The best representation of the game is the above GIF (or better yet, actually playing it). Though below are some screenshots of gameplay and basic menus. I would have liked to add some feedback if the player attempts purchase something, but doesn't have enough coins.

🛠️  Development

More-or-less knowing what we wanted to create, I started to sketch and mockup colours. The style fell into place pretty nicely, with sprite sheets being quite small but effective. To save a bit of extra time, I reused electricity and fire from the ability icons for the visual itself.
